Ritchie Bros. Sets Record for Internet Truck and Equipment Auction Participation

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers announced that it generated record sales of more than $3.6 million to Internet bidders during a live auction held Nov. 6-7 at the company’s site in Houston. The company also said that it surpassed $50 million in gross online auction sales in 2002 during the Houston auction. Close to 1,800 trucks and equipment items were sold.

More than 1,600 buyers registered to bid at the Houston auction, representing 47 states and 24 countries, the company said. A record 338 Internet bidders - approximately 20 percent of total bidders - registered to place real-time bids using the company’s rbauctionBid-Live online bidding service.
