Ford Motor Co. has announced that the 2003 Ford Explorer XLS, XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited are back, along with the XLS and XLT sport packages. Now, there also is the Explorer NBX. Here's what's new for Explorer in 2003:
  • AWD now offered on models from the entry level XLS to the Limited Available Off-Road package, featuring skid plates and tow hooks, chrome grille and black grained door handles standard on XLT.
  • Warm steel finish center cluster and door panels in XLT and NBX.
  • Optional rear seat entertainment system with DVD player.
  • New exterior colors: Red Fire, Zinc Yellow (NBX) and Ceramic White Tri-coat.
  • Explorer Limited upgrade.
    Ford says Explorer offers advanced safety features such as side curtain airbags and rollover sensors. The Explorer family also includes the two-door Sport and the versatile Sport Trac. The Sport has a freshened interior for comfort and convenience, including new low-back bucket seats, fabrics and trim. The Sport Trac also has an updated interior and new safety features. Later in the model-year look for the limited edition Adrenalin Sport Trac with a new sound system and appearance package. The Ford Explorer is built at the Louisville and St. Louis Assembly Plants.
