The National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has opened registration for its fall 2002 series of technician certification tests, including its series of three truck equipment tests. ASE recommends that technicians register by Sept. 27 for the Nov. 7 tests in the areas of truck equipment installation and repair, electrical/electronic systems installation and repair, and auxiliary power systems installation and repair. To become ASE-certified, a technician must pass one or more of the truck equipment exams and show proof of at least two years of relevant, verifiable work experience. Those who pass all three tests become ASE-certified master truck equipment technicians. Registration booklets are posted on www.asecert.org. To obtain a preparation guide and registration booklet, call (877) ASE-TECH or (800) 441-NTEA after Aug. 1.
