Strong truck and SUV sales have caused GM to issue reprieves on the closing of two plants. The Oklahoma City, OK plant, which produced the Chevrolet Malibu until May 2001, will produce the GMC Envoy XL and Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT models. It will produce 3,000 vehicles per week. The Linden, NJ plant, which produces the Chevrolet S-10 pickup and Blazer, will be kept open until at least the third quarter of 2005 because of strong sales of the vehicles. It had originally been scheduled to close in the third quarter of 2004.
