Gordon Food Service Acquisition Adds 140 Vehicles

February 20, 2002

Gordon Food Service in Grand Rapids acquired Institutional Distributors headquartered in Kentucky over the past summer and will add 140 vehicles to its fleet, said Gordon Fleet Manager Chad Roberts. The addition will increase Gordon’s total passenger vehicle fleet to 900 vehicles. Institutional Distributors was previously on a driver reimbursement program, but Roberts said Gordon places more importance in the company image projected by the vehicles. Gordon drivers also have full personal use of vehicles. “A company-provided vehicle is not always the most cost-effective method, but with it you can control company image and other costs such as maintenance,” Roberts said.
