GM Announces Executive Appointments

Effective Feb. 1, 2002, Douglas Herberger, currently general manager of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing (VSSM) – Western Region, is promoted to the position of GM North America vice president and general manager of Service and Parts Operations (SPO). He will report to Bill Lovejoy, group vice president of VSSM. Herberger succeeds John F. Smith, who was recently appointed to the position of GM vice president and general manager – field sales, service and parts for VSSM. Replacing Herberger will be Michael Jackson, currently VSSM executive director of sales support. He will report to Smith. Jackson’s responsibilities and those of his staff will be redistributed as follows: Dan Keller, director – sales and marketing integration, will now report to C. J. Fraleigh, executive director – GMNA advertising. Jeff Watts, director of recognition programs, will now report to Tom Conwell, director of operations – vehicle coordination and licensing. Valerie Weaver, director – field/dealer communications, will now report to Ron Sobrero, general manager – dealer network planning and investments.
