For a second year in a row, General Motors won the “Supplier of the Year” award from Encompass Services Corp., based in Houston. Encompass, a provider of facilities systems and services, operates a commercial fleet of 10,000 vehicles, mostly vans and pickup trucks, and has sole sourced GM as its supplier through the 2004-model year. Keith Kirk, chief procurement officer and vice president of purchasing for Encompass, cited GM’s shorter vehicle order-to-delivery times as a significant factor. “GM has consistent on-time delivery. We put some challenges in front of them this year, and they were really responsive and acted quickly to meet our needs,” Kirk said.
