CITGO Petroleum Fleet in Global Expansion Mode

January 15, 2002

The fleet of CITGO Petroleum, which has 1,300 vehicles in the U.S., has been expanding globally over the past couple of years. Cynthia Page, corporate fleet manager for CITGO, said her fleet now has vehicles in Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Guatemala as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands. The vehicles are used by VPs, general managers, and territory sales managers. "We're expanding our business in those areas," Page said in an interview with Automotive Fleet. "The biggest challenge is communication with International automobile dealerships, to negotiate pricing and availability of vehicles," she said. Here is a current breakdown of CITGO Petroleum’s global fleet size: Venezuela, 5 vehicles; Guatemala, 2; Brazil, 2; Ecuador, 1; Puerto Rico, 2; US Virgin Islands, 1. Total: 13 vehicles.
