August 14, 2001

GM reports that it set all-time July records for SUV sales in the month of July. The company says it is currently on pace to set an all-time industry record for yearly SUV sales. GM says its full-size utility outsold its nearest competitor by more than 145,000 units CYTD. GM also sold nearly 33,000 midsize utilities for the month, a 14.5 percent increase over July of last year. Additionally, GM’s lineup of full-size trucks remain almost two market share percentage points ahead of the pace it set during this same period last year. Through July, GM says it has sold more full-size pickups than any industry competitor.
