Manheim’s Arena Auto Auction in Bolingbrook, IL, received General Motors’ Auction of the Year Award for 2000. The award was presented to General Manager Jimmy Compton in July by Jeff Heichel, GM’s director of used-vehicle activities. Arena Auto Auction ranked first out of 56 GM-sponsored auctions nationwide for maximizing the resale value of more than 21,000 GM vehicles they sold during the year. This is the third year GM has presented this award. The 1999 winner of the GM Auction of the Year Award was Manheim’s Northstar Auto Auction in Shakopee, MN. Serving dealers since 1949, Arena Auto Auction is located 33 miles southwest of Chicago. The eight-lane, 120-acre facility is complete with a state-of-the-art, full-service reconditioning center. Plans are under way to add two more lanes to the auction by spring of next year.
