About 600 customers are now using Ford's subscription service Canvas in San Francisco and Los Angeles a year after the automaker launched it as an alternative to owning or leasing a vehicle, the company announced.

So far, Canvas vehicles have been driven 3 million miles. Canvas has rolled out several new features, including allowing multiple drivers and flexible mileage packages.

With Canvas, a customer can pay as little as $400 per month depending on the vehicle and other options to have around-the-clock access to a Ford vehicle with a mileage package, insurance, warranty, maintenance, and roadside assistance.

Customers can book the vehicle through a website.

Ford launched the service in the San Francisco area in May and expanded to west Los Angeles in November.
