The 2018 Ford F-150 and Toyota Tacoma have earned top awards at the Texas Auto Writers Association's (TAWA) Truck Rodeo as trucks of Texas, where manufacturers sell one of five pickups.

The F-150 was named the Truck of Texas, while the 2018 Tacoma was named the Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas in the group's annual fall truck event, where journalists drive the trucks in various terrains and a judging panel presents awards. More than 70 TAWA journalists participate.

In addition to its F-150 honor, Ford also took home the award for top Off-Road Pickup Truck for its F-150 Raptor. The testing takes place at the Longhorn River Ranch in Dripping Springs.

The 2018 Tacoma TRD Pro earned the mid-size pickup award. The off-road oriented model adds suspension and exhaust enhancements, as well as off-road technology, according to Toyota.

Additionally, Fiat Chrysler's Ram, Jeep, and Dodge brands earned eight awards at the event, including top Heavy Duty Pickup Truck (Ram 2500 Limited Tungsten), Luxury Pickup Truck (Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Southfork), and highest overall interior score for the Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Southfork.
