An effort to push for autonomous drone delivery services in Dubai for as early as 2018 is being made following the creation of a new drone delivery service business.

Eniverse Technologies, a Dubai-based technology group, and Skycart, a San Francisco-based drone shipping solution for retailers, have collaborated to create Space Autonomous Drone, which is an autonomous drone delivery company created for door-to-door delivery services, according to Forbes Middle East

Delivery tests are slated for September, with plans to collaborate with the Emirates Post, DHL, Amazon, UPS, and more.

Use of the delivery drones are estimated to cost nearly 30 to 40% less than traditional delivery mechanisms, according to the Khaleej Times. The deliverys will be performed for items that weigh less than 11 pounds. Governmental entities in Dubai are conducting trials for deliveries using drones in the coming month.

Space Autonomous Drones said it estimates the launch of the service to be between 2018 and 2019, according to Entreprener Middle East.
