Genesis has provided an early look at its first luxury SUV with the GV80 concept that was shown at the New York International Auto Show, as the nascent luxury brand seeks to expand beyond a slate of sedans.

As displayed, the GV80 powertrain uses hydrogen fuel cell technology to move the metal, but the propulsion system isn't set in stone.

Genesis initially rolled out the G80 and G90 for 2017, which will be followed by the G80 Sport and G70 sedans. To reach six models by 2020, Genesis will add two utility models as mid-size and entry sizes.

Genesis plans to open dedicated dealerships by 2021.
