Jeep Wranglers Recalled for Fuel Tank

FCA US is recalling 359 2017-model year Jeep Wrangler SUVs to address a potential fuel tank defect, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall covers Wranglers manufactured Nov. 1-3 of this year. In these vehicles, the fuel tank may have a cracked or broken control valve. This condition could result in a fuel leak in a rollover event, debris in the fuel tank, or the potential for over-fueling the vehicle. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire, NHTSA warned on its website.

Jeep dealers will inspect the fuel tank. They will replace it, along with the sending unit, if necessary. There will be no charge for this service. The recall is expected to begin Jan. 2.
