Toyota Motor North America is recalling approximately 744,000 2011- to 2016-model year Toyota Sienna minivans in the U.S., the automaker said.

If the sliding door opening operation is impeded in these minivans, the sliding door motor circuit might become overloaded and open the fuse for the motor. If this occurs when the door latch is in an unlatched position, the door might open unexpectedly while driving and increase the risk of occupant injury, Toyota said in a released statement.

Toyota is still developing the remedy for the problem. The manufacturer will notify all known owners of the involved vehicles by mail by mid-January.

Fleet managers wishing to confirm whether any of their vehicles are involved can click here to search by VIN.
