Toyota, Ford, and Lexus had the most nameplates appear on the Consumer Reports' list of recommended models released Oct. 24, the publication has announced.

Toyota leads the way with 19 models receiving the coveted check mark, while Ford and Lexus had 10 models each. Recommended Toyota models include the Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, RAV4, and Tundra.

Recommended Ford models include the Edge, Escape, Expedition, and Fusion. The latter has won Automotive Fleet's Fleet Car of the Year award three of the past four years. In addition, the Lincoln MKZ was recommended.

Seven Chevrolet vehicles earned a check, including the Malibu, Cruze, Impala, and Traverse. The Cruze won the Fleet Car of the Year in 2014. Among overall brands, Buick was listed in the third position behind Toyota and Lexus.

Mazda became the only nameplate that achieved recommended ratings for its entire lineup of seven models.
