General Motors is recalling 42,984 2011 model-year Buick Regal sedans equipped with eight-way power adjustable front seats, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

In these cars, the power seat wiring harness may contact the seat frame and cause the wires to chafe. The chafed harness wires, in turn, may cause a short circuit that increases the risk of fire, NHTSA said.

The recall covers vehicles manufactured from Nov. 3, 2009, to March 25, 2011.

Dealers will inspect and secure the wiring harness, and repair any chafed wires. There will be no charge for this service.

Vehicle owners can reach Buick customer service at (800) 521-7300. GM’s number for this recall is 30710.
