Sales of vehicles to commercial fleets from nine automakers increased 5.6% to 49,464 in July with truck-based vehicles outpacing passenger cars, according to Automotive Fleet data.

Sales of trucks, vans, and SUVs increased 6.4% to 41,864 compared with July of 2015, while sales of passenger cars increased 1.8% to 7,600.

Fleet sales continue a strong trajectory in 2016, as year-to-date sales increased 10.2% to 423,785 units. For the first seven months of the year, truck-based sales increased 12.3% to 355,623 vehicles, while passenger car sales increased 0.6% to 68,162 units.
