Kia Motors America is recalling 2,587 2016 model-year Kia Sorento SUVs so dealers can replace defective front-passenger seat belt buckle covers, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The front-passenger seat belts in these vehicles have a buckle latch assembly that may prevent the passenger from fastening the seat belt. The repair work will be performed free of charge, NHTSA said.

The Sorento vehicles at issue were manufactured from Oct. 23 to Dec. 10 in 2014. The recall is expected to begin Aug. 18.

Vehicle owners can reach Kia customer service at (800) 333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC123.
