The 2016 Chevrolet Volt will start at $26,495 after the $7,500 federal tax credit, and the vehicle could be even more affordable in California with state incentives.

The redesigned model carries a sticker price of $33,995, which is $1,200 less than the current model. The price includes the $825 destination fee.

General Motors has improved the performance and range of the Volt with the 2016 model, which now delivers a range of 50 miles in electric mode, a 31-percent improvement, according to GM. The automaker estimates that the 2016 Volt will provide 102 MPGe (electric) and 41 combined mpg on gasoline power.
