Nissan North America is recalling 76,242 2014 model-year Nissan Rogue SUVs because the fuel pump may fail – a result of improper nickel-plating of components within the pump.

The recall, set to get under way this month, affects vehicles manufactured from June 11, 2013, to June 7, 2014, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. Vehicle owners can reach Nissan customer service at (800) 647-7261.
