Chrysler Group LLC is issuing two separate vehicle recalls – one covering 2013 model-year Dodge Darts and another affecting 2013-MY Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200 vehicles as well as 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot crossover SUVs.

The 2013 Dodge Dart recall affects 374 cars manufactured May 10 through Aug. 24 of this year. They are all equipped with the Mopar 13 trim package. The front seat-mounted side airbags may not have been properly installed into the seat and may not deploy correctly in the event of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

To remedy the problem, dealers will inspect the seat-mounted airbag installation and re-install the airbags if necessary, free of charge.

The second recall covers 522 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200 vehicles as well as 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot SUVs equipped with 2.4L engines. Because of abrasive debris in the balance shaft bearings, their engines may have a loss of oil pressure. This poses the risk of engine stall or failure, NHTSA said.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the engine balance shaft module, free of charge.

Both recalls are expected to begin this month. Vehicle owners can reach Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.
