Hyundai is recalling 43,500 2009-2012 model-year Genesis luxury sedans to fix a potential brake problem, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The vehicles may have brake fluid that fails to protect against corrosion of the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU), NHTSA said. If this module corrodes, the brakes might become less effective.

The recall covers Genesis vehicles manufactured April 30, 2008, through March 28, 2012. Hyundai dealers will inspect the HECU module and replace it if necessary. Dealers will also replace the factory brake fluid in those vehicles if the fluid hasn’t previously been replaced. There will be no charge for these services.

This recall is expected to get under way in December. Hyundai can be reached at 1-800-633-5151 or by email at [email protected]. The recall number is 114.
