Hyundai Motor America and Genesis Motor America have begun the process of selecting dealers to operate 100 stand-alone Genesis stores, which would be built out over the next three years, according to the company.

Hyundai dealers who now sell Genesis vehicles in certain markets, and have agreed to the Genesis Participating Agreement (GPA), will be given first crack at operating the new stores. Hyundai spun off the Genesis luxury brand in 2015.

Genesis will award the 100 dealerships this year. They will initially be operated in temporary or shared facilities while the stand-alone Genesis stores are built out.

In 2017, Genesis sold 20,594 G80, G80 Sport, and G90 sedans. Hyundai now counts about 840 dealerships in the U.S. About 350 are GPA dealers who sell the full Genesis lineup. About 450 non-GPA Hyundai dealers sell only the G80.
