Mercedes-Benz revealed its next-generation 2019 CLS at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The all-new four-door coupe seats five passengers for the first time.

The 2019 CLS450 and CLS450 4MATIC are equipped with a new six-cylinder engine that includes EQ Boost (integrated starter/generator) and a 48-volt onboard electrical system. The engine produces 362 horsepower (hp) and 369 pound-feet (lb.-ft.) of torque. Additionally, a further 21 hp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque are available via EQ Boost over short periods.

Exterior highlights include newly designed LED headlamps and taillights and 19-inch light-alloy wheels. There are three different interior styles available: classic, sport, or progressive. Ambient lighting can be adjusted in 64 colors, including the air vents. When the temperature setting is changed, it changes color when the temperature is made warmer (red) or cooler (blue).

The new CLS generation features several safety systems through its optional Driver Assistance Package. The package includes active distance assist DISTRONIC, active steering assist, active speed limit assist, active brake assist with cross-traffic function, active blind spot assist, active line keeping assist, and PRE-SAFE impulse side.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS will go on sale in the U.S. by fall 2018.
