Ford's Mustang sport car will arrive for 2018 with a sleeker look, lower hood, new transmission, and one less engine choice, Ford has announced.

Ford is dropping the 3.7L V-6 for 2018, and reworking its 5.0L V-8 to increase power and add efficiency. Ford will continue to offer the 2.3L turbocharged four cycliner.

Ford has upgraded the manual transmission for both engines and is adding its 10-speed transmission as an option for either engine. The new gearbox offers quicker shift times, better low-speed tip-in response and significantly reduced friction losses, according to Ford. Ford will no longer offer its 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2018 Mustang will also new technology such as a 12-inch all-digital instrument cluster that users can customize, MyMode with memory function that remembers driving preferences, and new driver-assist features such as Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection.
