Audi will offer a redesigned manual transmission with its 2017 A4 Quattro all-wheel-drive sedan that it says would be the only luxury sedan with that particular pairing.

The new 6-speed manual features extensive use of magnesium and a smaller clutch, which improves the power-to-weight ratio, according to Audi. The 2017 A4 with manual transmission can reach 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, a 0.7 second improvement over the previous generation.

The improved performance is due primarily to its spur-gear stage that replaces the shaft to the front-axle differential used on the previous models.

The Sport plus package includes the S line interior, dynamic steering, sport adaptive suspension, and 18-inch wheels with summer tires.

The manual A4 Quattro will retail for $40,350 for the Premium, $44,150 for the Premium Plus, and $48,950 for the Prestige.
