In a world of streaming digital music, Ford is bucking the trend by upgrading the radio technology in its 2017 Fusion mid-size sedan to give drivers a clearer FM listening experience.

The 2017 Fusion and Escape compact SUV will arrive with a dual radio reception system bolstering the available HD Radio that uses a second receiver and the rear window heater grid as a second antenna to help the radio choose between weak and overlapping signals.

The technology will help the vehicle receive radio transmissions in cities and mountainous areas where radio signals bounce, Ford has announced.

Other audio improvements for Escape and Fusion include digital audio bus technology, which helps deliver high-fidelity sound, and for Fusion, available acoustic laminated glass, which helps improve cabin acoustics and block outside noise.
