Cadillac's XT5 luxury SUV will retail for at least $39,900 when it goes on sale in early April to replace the outgoing SRX luxury SUV, Cadillac has announced.

The XT5 will arrive as the first of four new SUVs from Cadillac carrying the XT designation, and joins the lineup just after the arrival of the CT6 sedan.

The XT5 is "pivotal to our ongoing growth, which is why we’ve developed XT5 from the inside out to provide customers more space, more technology, more luxury and more efficiency," said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac's president.

Cadillac will offer the XT5 in four trim levels, including the flagship Platinum model, which will retail for $63,495. All-wheel drive will be offered standard on Platinum and as an option for the other trim grades.

The XT5 and CT6 share the 3.6L V-6 engine that debuted with the ATS and CTS sport sedans. It offers a peak output of 310 hp and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. It uses variable value timing to increase fuel efficiency, and delivers power via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
