Porsche will begin selling the 718 Boxster and Boxster S cars that increase horsepower over the Boxster and Boxster S cars and pay homage to the brand's famous mid-engine race cars from the 1950s.

Turbocharged flat four-cylinder engines power the cars with displacement at 2.0L for the 718 Boxster and 2.5L for the 718 Boxster S. The entry model produces 300 hp, while the S variant makes 350 hp. The engines offer 35 hp above the non-718 models.

The new models should also provide up to a 14% improvement in fuel economy based on European driving cycles. The vehicles will initially be sold in Europe in April.
