General Motors will reveal the full details of its second-generation 2016 Chevrolet Cruze later this month as its point-of-the-spear vehicle for GM's connected-vehicle technology update.

The Cruze, which is GM's bet-selling vehicle globally, will be larger and lighter than the current model, and arrive as the first GM vehicle to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to better integrate smartphone use, according to GM. Full details will be released June 24.

GM sold 273,060 Cruze compact cars in 2014, and the vehicle has found its way into fleets. In 2013, commercial fleets added 4,809 units. The 2015 model was also named Fleet Car of the Year by Automotive Fleet.

The 2016 Cruze is expected to arrive at dealer lots in early 2016.
