Dodge Chief: We're Facing 'Huge Headwinds'

May 05, 2014

Chrysler's Dodge brand is facing "some huge headwinds" in 2014, such as declining fleet sales, the bran's CEO Tim Kuniskis told MLive.com.

The Dodge brand is faring well in the retail realm, but fleet sales have fallen to a 10-year low, Kuniskis said. Chrysler does not release a breakout of its retail and fleet sales.

During the interview with the outlet at the New York International Auto Show, Kuniskis also cited challenges including Chrysler ending production of the Dodge Avenger and capacity constraints on the Dodge Durango SUV.

Kuniskis is enthused about the redesign of the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger for the 2015 model year, he said.

Sergio Marchionne, Chrysler's chief executive and chairman, plans to lay out a five-year strategic plan on Tuesday for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the entity that was set up earlier this year following the merger of the automakers.
