Volvo Cars is catering to the connected generation with what it describes as "roam service" that brings food and online shopping orders directly to a vehicle.

Volvo plans to demonstrate the service at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona beginning Monday. The service is possible with Volvo's new digital key technology that allows a vehicle owner to choose their vehicle as a delivery option. The user is notified via a smartphone or tablet when a delivery company wants to drop off or pick something up from the car.

Volvo selected 100 people who tested the service during a trial period. More than 80 percent of those users told Volvo the service saved them time, according to the automaker.
