DETROIT – General Motors announced its 2013-MY Buick Encore luxury crossover will get an EPA-rated 28 mpg combined fuel economy (25 city, 33 highway) when equipped with a standard six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

The automaker stated the Encore’s combined fuel economy is based on a ratio of 45% highway and 55% city driving. GM added it will announce fuel-economy figures for AWD versions of the 2013 Encore at a later date.

The vehicle is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged engine. GM noted that Buick engineers developed a lighter body structure that’s composed of 60% high-strength steel. GM noted that this vehicle will save an estimated $2,100 in fuel costs over a five-year ownership period when compared with the “average” new vehicle.
