AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler released new details on the upcoming 2013-MY Dodge Dart exterior, interior, and safety features. The automaker also said it will reveal the vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show on January 9, 2012.

The compact sedan will come in 12 exterior colors and offer 14 interior color and trim combinations, according to Chrysler. In addition to the previously mentioned engine and transmission choices, the automaker will provide six wheel options.

In terms of safety, the new Dart will feature 10 standard airbags. It will also offer blind-spot monitoring and rear cross path detection.

When it comes to the new interior, the automaker said it is designed to be highly customizable, and to provide the interior room of a mid-size sedan. The automaker said the vehicle has a “driver-centric” layout, offers high-quality soft-touch materials, and ambient lighting for the door handles, map pockets, foot wells, glove box, storage bin and illuminated cup holders.

In the dash, Chrysler said the focus is a floating island bezel, which houses an available 7-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) customizable gauge cluster display with light pipe surround. That area also houses an available UConnect Touch 8.4-inch touchscreen multimedia center. The glove box has room to store a tablet computer, such as an iPad, and the center console features auxiliary jacks for electronic devices.
