CHICAGO - Ford's all-new Explorer crossover SUV will offer a fuel-efficient, turbocharged four-cylinder engine when it goes on sale late this year, Mark Fields, president of Ford of the Americas, said Feb. 10 at the Chicago Auto Show, reported Detroit Free Press.

The new Explorer will deliver at least 25 percent better fuel economy than the current model, according to Ford, featuring unibody construction, Ford's EcoBoost engine technology, a six-speed transmission, and lightweight materials.

Ford's smaller Edge crossover shown at the auto show will also offer that engine when the revised 2011 model goes on sale this year, reported the Press.
