Barra Defends Actions of GM's Chief Counsel
During a Senate subcommittee hearing on July 17, GM CEO Mary Barra strongly defended the company's decision to retain Michael Millikin as GM general counsel. The attorney drew sharp criticism from Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who argued GM should have fired Millikin in the wake of the Valukas report's conclusions. Millikin, who was seated next to Barra at the hearing, stated he first learned of the Cobalt ignition switch defect in February of this year. Here's hearing video footage from AP.
