Toyota is recalling about 1,760 Lexus ES 350 luxury sedans in the 2017 model year because the right-hand side tie rod assembly in these cars may have been installed improperly, the automaker said.

Over time, drivers may notice noises, a drift to the left or right while driving, or a loss of steering control as a result of the issue, Toyota said in a released statement. The condition might increase the risk of a crash.

Lexus dealers will confirm that the right-hand side tie rod lock nut is properly tightened. If the lock nut is loose, the dealer will replace the lock nut, the steering gear assembly, and the tie rod assembly with new ones. There will be no charge for the service, Toyota said.

All known owners of the recalled vehicles will receive a mail notification, starting in mid-July.

Vehicle owners can reach Lexus customer service at (800) 255-3987. To learn whether the recall covers any of your vehicles, you can click here and search by VIN.
