Buick’s restyled 2017-model year LaCrosse sedan has drawn the highest possible overall safety score — five stars — from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as part of the agency’s New Car Assessment Program.

The mid-size sedan scored five stars in frontal crash, side crash, and rollover evaluations to qualify for the top overall rating. The rating provides Buick with a NHTSA five-star sweep across the brand’s tested lineup of premium vehicles for the third straight year.

All six 2017 Buick models — the Cascada, LaCrosse, Regal, Enclave, Encore, and Envision — have a NHTSA five-star overall vehicle score. The Regal five-star overall score applies to vehicles without optional rear seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and the Envision five-star overall rating applies to vehicles with all-wheel drive.

In 2016, four restyled or significantly enhanced Buick vehicles were launched in the U.S., and each one earned the agency’s highest overall rating for safety.

“We know safety is top of mind for buyers when shopping for new vehicles, and the recent ratings by NHTSA showcase our brand’s dedication to providing our customers with safe, reliable transportation,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of global Buick sales, service, and marketing.

The Buick lineup offers a host of safety features, including the company’s patented Safety Alert Seat, which provides alerts to the driver using haptic seat vibrations. The 2017 Enclave also provides a front-center air bag, delivering improved protection to front passengers in side collisions. Additionally, the 2017 LaCrosse is the first Buick to offer Front Pedestrian Braking.
