Volvo Cars of North America is recalling 3,911 2016 model-year Volvo XC90 SUVs because the third-row-seating side curtain air bags might not fully inflate.

This recall affects vehicles manufactured from Jan. 27 to July 10 of this year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. To resolve the problem, Volvo dealers will modify the D-pillar interior panels to allow full inflation of the third-row air bags. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to begin Sept. 14. Vehicle owners can reach Volvo customer service at (201) 768-7300.
