Kia Motors America is recalling 7,722 Sportage compact SUVs in the 2011 model year because the brake light switch might fail intermittently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

Kia dealers will replace the brake light switch, free of charge. The recall is expected to get under way in July.

Sportage owners can reach Kia customer service at (800) 333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC121.
