Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 5,625 2014-2015 model-year Audi SQ5 SUVs because the electric power steering assist system may unexpectedly shut down in cold temperatures.

The problem is related to a steering motor sensor fault, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. To resolve the issue, dealers will update the power steering control module software. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall covers vehicles manufactured from May 22, 2013, to April 14, 2015.

Vehicle owners can contact Audi customer service at (800) 253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 48M1.
