Ford Motor Company Fund has donated five Ford Transit vans to the American Red Cross to add to the company's fleet of more than 3,000 vans that support disaster relief.

The new Ford Transit high-roof vans with 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engines were delivered to five Red Cross locations including Detroit; Lexington, Ky.; Louisville, Ky.; Cleveland; and Portland, Ore.

The Red Cross' fleet has a total of 6,291 vehicles, including 3,221 vans and 1,073 passenger cars that make up 68% of the total fleet.

Each year, the Red Cross responds to approximately 70,000 disasters of all sizes, from single-family house fires to widespread weather damage from tornadoes and hurricanes. Ford Transit joins the Red Cross fleet of emergency vehicles.

Ford provides assistance to all five lines of service within the Red Cross: Disaster Relief, Health and Safety Training and Education, Service to the Armed Forces, International Services and Lifesaving Blood Services.
