Electronic Control Units Trigger Mitsubishi Recall

Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling 53,396 vehicles because voltage instability in their electronic control units may affect the performance of headlights, taillights and windshield wipers, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.

The recall covers 2009-2010-MY Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles manufactured Jan. 12, 2009, to July 6, 2010; 2009-2010-MY Outlander vehicles manufactured Jan. 12, 2009, to Aug. 27, 2010; 2010-MY Lancer Sportback vehicles manufactured June 17, 2009, to June 8, 2010; and 2010-MY Lancer Evolution vehicles manufactured July 14, 2009, to Aug. 4, 2010.

Dealers will replace any defective ECUs, free of charge.
