The redesigned 2015 model-year Kia Sedona minivan has drawn a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The vehicle scored 5 Stars in the agency’s frontal and side crash tests to qualify for the highest overall rating in NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program. In the rollover evaluation, the Sedona drew a 4-Star score.
Karco Engineering performed the tests for NHTSA on March 9.
Seventy-six percent of the all-new Sedona’s body is composed of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) to provide greater rigidity, durability and crash protection, Kia said. The minivan has also been engineered to distribute impact loads evenly through the body with ultra-high-strength steel tubes installed in the A pillars.
