Kia Motors America is recalling 12,361 2016 model-year Sorento SUVs because a component in the accelerator pedal assembly might have been improperly soldered, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The problem may hinder the driver’s ability to accelerate the vehicle, NHTSA said, posing a safety risk. The recall affects Sorento SUVs manufactured from Oct. 27, 2014, to Jan. 29 of this year.

Kia dealers will replace the accelerator assembly, free of charge. Vehicle owners can reach Kia customer service at (800) 333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC115.
