Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 40,551 2010-2015 model-year LR2 and 2012-2013 MY Range Rover Evoque compact SUVs because of potential air bag malfunction, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.

A component within the occupant classification system’s electronic control unit might fail, which could partially or totally disable the front-seat passenger air bag.  To fix the problem, dealers will update the restraint control module software, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin on Aug. 30. Vehicle owners can reach Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is P046.
