WASHINGTONNissan North America Inc. is recalling 7,842 2013 model-year Infiniti JX35 crossover vehicles because the fuel gauge may indicate an inaccurate level of fuel left in the tank.

During assembly, the fuel transfer tube may have been misrouted inside the fuel tank. As a result, the fuel level float may be prevented from dropping as the fuel is consumed, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The recall covers 2013 model-year Infiniti JX35 vehicles that were manufactured from Feb. 15 through June 22 of 2012.

To remedy the problem, dealers will inspect and re-route the fuel transfer tube and install a new O-ring. There will be no charge for this service.

Vehicle owners can reach Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
