WASHINGTON – Ford Motor Co. is recalling 140,310 2012 model-year Focus vehicles because a seal in the wiring harness connector to the passenger-side windshield wiper motor may be missing, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Focus vehicles covered in the recall were all manufactured from Aug. 1, 2010 through Oct. 18, 2011.

To remedy the problem, dealers will inspect recalled vehicles and, as needed, clean and properly seal the passenger-side wiper motor connector. Any inoperative wiper motors will be replaced. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to get under way around May 21.
